October 30th, 2012, Franck Biancheri died of a long illness at the age of 51, leaving behind him an immense work as a European politologist, not only as a thinker, researcher and poser of ideas and methods -such as that of political anticipation in particular- with “Europe” at its heart, or more exactly the “Europeans” (a Europe of the future, a Europe of the citizens, a democratic Europe, a better integrated Europe, conscious of its responsibilities and more influential in the world, a Europe that is an actor of innovation, peace, prosperity and well-being for all… ), but also as an actor with the multiplicity of brand new projects initiated under his impulse, 1st trans-European transdisciplinary student movement: AEGEE; 1st trans-European political action for the adoption of ERASMUS; 1st trans-European political parties: IDE (European elections 1989) and Newropeans (European elections 2009) and their trans-European campaigns: 1988 and 2008 summer beach campaigns; 1st trans-European citizen’s think-tank: Prometheus-Europe and its EU/regions of the world information and exchange networks (NICE, NICIS, NICOLAM, NICOMED…); 1st trans-Atlantic Internet citizen’s initiative: TIESweb; 1st trans-European online election experience: EUSV; 1st trans-European political marathon: Newropeans Democracy Marathon; 1st multilingual trans-European online magazine: Newropeans-Magazine; 1st global EU/BRICS network: EuroBRICS; thousands of events: congresses, conferences, seminars, meetings, debates, trainings…

 

With him, around him, a multitude of companions, from all horizons, faithful or temporary, but indelibly marked by this bubbling and tireless spirit, the generosity of the character at the service of humanity, the marathon runner of democracy, without whom of course nothing would have been done.

 

For 10 years, the Association of the Friends of Franck Biancheri has endeavored not only to defend the work of Franck Biancheri and his memory -with success, moreover, since the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe acquired in 2019 all the archives of his work, which are now available online in the Fonds Biancheri– but also to highlight the women and men who have accompanied him, the living memory of his work. Thus, in 2020, we published the 1st Euro-Citizens Directory, which brings together a hundred portraits of these companions.

 

Our last task was to make visible these two elements: the fund Franck Biancheri and the companions of his road. With this new site we hope that you will find living testimonies of this exceptional journey of euro-citizens who have undoubtedly contributed to the emergence of a citizens’ Europe, from AEGEE and Eramsus (how many young people?) to political anticipation in a global world (giving Europe a central place).

 

It is thanks to some of these companions and friends that we have been able to continue until today our actions for the preservation of Franck’s work and memory. We are extremely grateful to those who have allowed us by their financial and moral support to realize and maintain this site, in particular, his parents Alain and Mireille Biancheri, Carla, his daughter and Marie-Hélène Caillol, his companion, and also notably,
