[:en]For more than seven years, Catherine Bernicchia, initiator and coordinator, has been running the project europe20142018. It took flight in these times of Anniversary of the Centenary of the Great War, a time of memory for its soldiers and a time of reflection on the peace, this peace which for us, Europeans, is the evidence of the life of our continent for more than 70 years, the foundation of the 1957 Treaty of Rome, the constitutive act of our community, the European Union.
This project was also born of the moral support that Franck Biancheri had brought to it, an idea that he knew how to awaken and which stayed in Catherine long before germinating.
Franck Biancheri was a great-grandson and grandson of soldiers who died during the first and second world wars. His great grandfather, Augustin Egilde Biancheri, a seaman 2nd class mechanic, disappeared at sea on the night of April 27, 1915, during the torpedoing by the Austrian submarine U5, battleship cruiser Leon Gambetta on which he was engaged. This torpedo, one of the first before that of Luisitania, off Santa Maria di Leuca (southern entrance to the Adriatic) has made 684 victims. Catherine is a painter, she is an artist sensitive to the movements of our time and our memory which is inspired by the spaces and the imprint of the memories carried beyond the century in the memory of those which come after, the young Europeans or the world, custodians, successors, heirs of the past in which unknown ancestors walked. With this project she calls them to remember, to pay tribute to the dead of the Great War, many of whom are their great-grandparents (or even their tri-ancestors), participating in a collective artistic work.
But the project goes much further. Europe 2014-2018 offers them a permanent reflection “out of fashion”, “out of date of birthday”, on the war in general, the war today, their wars of all kinds, “the conflicts inherent to the human nature which occupy simply the everyday; on the external or internal conflict, in the past and now; on the question of the instability of all life, of any state, of any construction; on the question of the counterweight which is always to re-search in itself. ”
The project is based on productions in the form of audiovisual productions and plastic productions grouped together in a “virtual memorial” in the form of a You-Tube channel. Each of us is invited to contribute. On the model of the examples presented each one can make a base of reflection and produce in his way in the respect of the spirit of the project.
“If you paint for Europe, I’m a buyer,” Franck told her.
Catherine goes far beyond, and her project which bears all the tragic and human dimension of yesterday’s Europe, today’s citizen and the seeds of tomorrow’s Europe, deserves all the support we can to bring.

[:fr]Depuis plus de sept années Catherine Bernicchia, initiatrice et coordinatrice, porte le projet europe20142018 en elle. Il a pris son envol en ces temps d’Anniversaire du Centenaire de la Grande Guerre, un temps de mémoire pour ses soldats et un temps de réflexion sur la paix, cette paix qui pour nous, Européens, est l’évidence de la vie de notre continent depuis plus de 70 ans, le fondement du Traité de Rome de 1957, l’acte constitutif de notre communauté, l’Union européenne.
Ce projet est aussi né du soutien moral que Franck Biancheri y avait apporté, une idée qu’il a su éveiller et qui est restée en Catherine longtemps avant de germer.
Franck Biancheri était arrière petit-fils et petit-fils de soldats morts au cours de la première et seconde guerre mondiales. Son arrière grand-père, Augustin Egilde Biancheri, matelot de 2e classe mécanicien, a disparu en mer dans la nuit du 27 avril 1915, lors du torpillage par le sous-marin autrichien U5, du croiseur cuirassé Léon Gambetta sur lequel il était engagé. Ce torpillage, l’un des tous premiers avant celui du Luisitania, au large de Santa-Maria di Leuca (entrée sud de l’Adriatique) a fait 684 victimes. Catherine est peintre, elle est une artiste sensible aux mouvements de notre temps et de notre mémoire qui s’inspire des espaces et de l’empreinte des souvenirs portés au delà du siècle dans la mémoire de ceux qui viennent après, des jeunes européens ou du monde, dépositaires, successeurs, héritiers du passé dans lequel ont marché d’inconnus ancêtres. Avec ce projet elle les appelle à faire mémoire, à rendre hommage aux Morts de la Grande Guerre, dont nombre sont leurs arrière-grands-parents (voire même leurs tri-aïeux), en participant à une œuvre artistique collective.
Mais le projet va bien plus loin. Europe 2014-2018 leur propose une réflexion permanente “hors mode”, “hors date d’anniversaire”, sur la guerre en général, la guerre aujourd’hui, leurs guerres de tous genres, « les conflits inhérents à la nature humaine qui occupent tout simplement le quotidien ; sur le conflit extérieur ou intérieur, dans le passé et maintenant ; sur la question de l’instabilité de toute vie, de tout état, de toute construction ; sur la question du contrepoids qui est toujours à re-chercher en soi. »
Le projet repose sur des réalisations sous forme de productions audiovisuelles et de productions plastiques regroupées dans un « mémorial virtuel » sous forme d’une chaîne You-Tube. Chacun de nous est invité à y contribuer. Sur le modèle des exemples présentés chacun peut en faire une base de réflexion et produire à sa manière dans le respect de l’esprit du projet.
« Si tu peins pour l’Europe, je suis preneur » lui avait déclaré Franck.
Catherine va bien au-delà, et son projet qui porte toute la dimension tragique et humaine de l’Europe d’hier, citoyenne d’aujourd’hui et les graines de l’Europe de demain, mérite tout le soutien que nous pouvons lui apporter.
